TKEC conducts property assessments in an attempt to identify the presence of contamination on a property. This information is used to fulfill environmental due diligence requirements and to establish protection from potential liability under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) – A Phase I ESA includes, but is not limited to a visual inspection, historical land use review, regulatory agency database review, interviews, and evaluation of geologic data. At TKEC, our Phase I ESAs are conducted in conformance with the EPA’s Standards and Practices for All Appropriate Inquiries (AAI) {40 CFR Part 312} dated November 1, 2006, and the American Society for Testing and Materials’ (ASTM) E1527-05 "Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process” or they can be customized to meet specific customer requirements. Our Phase I ESAs are conducted by persons who meet the definition of “Environmental Professional” as defined in 40 CFR Part 312.10. Phase II Environmental Site Investigations/Characterizations - These investigations typically include soil and/or groundwater sampling with laboratory analysis for suspected contaminants. Data can be used to determine if a property is contaminated, by what type of contaminant, and to what extent. Phase III Site Clean Up - Based on the results of a Phase II investigation, TKEC can implement a plan to remediate a property. This typically could include the removal or treatment of soil, and the disposal or treatment of groundwater.
